cooking update: i’m holding off on enchiladas tonight in favor of THESE – because they look amazing and i can imagine the kitchen smelling WONDERFUL and i would have made them last night but i was in a pizza mood and ended up with yellow/red peppers, onions, and goat cheese on a boboli crust :)   and i stuffed my face while watching the people’s choice awards.

over christmas break (i can say ‘break’ because it truly was…12 days!) i did a lot of shopping. my sister and i hit all 5 shopping centers within half an hour of home, armed with espresso and gift cards. the sales just begged us to come in and stay awhile.

Mall of America was the big trip, since we could get to pretty much any store we desired in one fell swoop. we scored big time at DSW, H&M, express, banana republic, martin + osa, etc., but the biggest prize of the day came from nordstrom rack.

if you haven’t heard of/been there, LEARN/GO NOW. anything nordstrom needs to get out of their stores to make way for new stuff goes to the rack and is marked down like you wouldn’t believe. i’ve gotten michael kors skirts, nicole miller dresses, and an unimaginable number of pairs of shoes.

BEHOLD:

cynthia vincent boots. 100% leather.  sexy.  COMFORTABLE.  MY SIZE.  AND THEY FIT MY CALVES OMG A RARITY.

originally priced at $350.00, marked down and down and down to $149.99, and then 60% off for the post-christmas sale.

grand total – $60.00 even.  minnesota doesn’t have tax on clothing – which is the BEST reason to live there.

gift cards made my purchase come down to $30.  color me HAPPY.

my sister ended up with a white michael kors leather bomber jacket that wasn’t on sale enough in my eyes and that she’ll probably only wear twice.  she’ll learn one day.

did you do any post-holiday shopping?  any steals?

I need new boots, but unfortunately ALL of my dollars right now are relocation dollars, which HOLY HELL is more expensive than I thought it’d be! Sorry I missed you here, but we’ll have to make that happen sometime!

oh boy, moving is one of the most expensive things. let me know if you need tips :)

Unusually I’ve not done ANY post holiday shopping this year, with the exception of buying lots of trashy books on amazon as per usual. Just not had the moo-lah unfortunately. And dealing with pushy sales customers . . . uh-uh, not for me AT ALL.

That being said, I’ve always loved the idea of going to the Mall of America. Sadlyt it’s a good few thousand miles too far west for me to pay a visit…
